The Heritage Lake Garden Club was made aware of cost-share funds being available to those owning land within the Big Walnut Creek Watershed. The garden club pollinator garden seemed to fit what the conservancy was looking for and so I was asked to write a grant request for funds to augment our efforts with the garden.
Our request was granted this week and the Garden Club will receive funds to further develop and enhance the main pollinator garden. Tom Novak made the club aware of this, Anita Johnson and Kurt Steuer gave me valuable input for the request. The garden was aerated this week, live plants can be ordered with the grant money and real progress in developing habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, caterpillars and insects will be made.
