Our July lesson was led by Mary Nice. She shared natural methods for weed and pest control. Vinegar is a good insect repellent and salt will keep weeds at bay. The use of salt will not allow anything to grow so only use salt where you don't want anything to grow such as driveways and sidewalk cracks.
The Putnam County Fair opens this month. The Heritage Lake Garden Club will have several members exhibiting their flower and vegetable gardens efforts.
Our next meeting will be August 12, 9:30am, at the clubhouse. We will learn how to give your plants an alfalfa tea party.
